Everybody loves a mystery, and nobody does them better than the Brits. The country that produced Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, Ruth Rendell, Dick Francis and Minette Walters is still home to many of the finest writers of mysteries today. Bloody Brits Press is proud to announce that American readers will now have the chance to experience some of Britain’s most talented mystery writers for themselves.
The responsibility for selecting the titles published by Bloody Brits Press lies with editorial director, Val McDermid. Recently placed at 16 in the London Observer’s Top 50 of influential people in British publishing, McDermid is herself an international bestselling and award-winning mystery writer. Twice nominated for an Edgar, she also wrote the books on which the award-winning BBC America series Wire in the Blood is based.
McDermid said, “I know from my own experience how hard it is for British writers to get a toehold in America. The big publishing houses only have room for a limited number of what they see as potential bestsellers. That means a lot of excellent books don’t make it across the Atlantic. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to showcase some of our previously hidden talent via Bloody Brits Press.”
